Joe Henry Thomas, Sr., 78, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday. Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and his career spanned 30 years of Federal Service with the Corps of Engineers and NASA in support of manned space flight programs. He served in Washington, DC, Cape Kennedy, Florida, and at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. He was a farmer and an active member of several automotive restoration and antique clubs in the Huntsville community. He was a member of Twickenham Church of Christ.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn J. Thomas and Jewell Cox Thomas of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Kathlyn Mudd Thomas; daughter, Tammi Thomas; son-in-law, Gary Smith, both of Huntsville; son, Joe Thomas, Jr. of Lancaster, CA; and granddaughter, Rachel Thomas Givens of Tampa, FL.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23rd, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jody Vickery, Lincoln Smith and Steve Criggers officiating. A graveside service will be Monday, June 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, KY. (www.laughlinservice.com)
