Funeral services for Joe Henry "Joey" Smith, Jr., 53, of Diboll, will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. David Goodwin and Clay Powell officiating, and Masonic rites under the auspices of the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Joey was born on October 8, 1971, in Lufkin, Texas, to Joe Henry Smtih, Sr. and Diane (White) Smith, and died Saturday, October 26, 2024, in Diboll.
Joey was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a member of Burke Masonic Lodge #833, Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669, Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263, Swift Masonic Lodge #678, and Homer Masonic Lodge #254. Joey had a heart of gold and would help anyone anytime. He had a talent of voice impersonation, which especially came in handy to aggravate telemarketers. Joey could change his voice to mimic any type of language. He had a love of collecting, including yeti cups, masonic jewelry, knives, and guns (he was always packing). Joey loved to travel, hunt, and fish.
Joey is survived by his wife of 28 years, Alisha Smith of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Jason Cook, Jr. of Diboll; daughter, Brianna Smith and fianc? Gregg Tarver of Groveton; grandsons, Cody Wayne Cook of Diboll, Case Michael Cook of Diboll, and Easton Wayne Tarver of Groveton; parents, Joe Henry Smith, Sr. and Diane Smith of Diboll; brother, Michael Lynn Smith and wife Melinda of Bloomburg, TX; nephew, Declan Graham Smith; and niece, Brittyn Monroe Smith of Bloomburg, TX.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe D. and Emma Lee Smith and Lindy and Ruth White; and nephew, Gavin Drake Smith.
Pallbearers will be Dean White, Kent White, Dennis Lenderman, Clay Powell, James McGuire, Larry Martin, Kevin Martin, and Greg Greenwill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.
