Joe "Chiefy" Clifford Chance
Joe "Chiefy" Clifford Chance, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Midland, TX. He was born on July 24, 1937 in Wink, TX to Henry Clay and Willie Mae (Croft) Chance. Joe married Sharon Kay Malone on January 28, 1960 in Kermit, TX and they shared 61 wonderful years together.
Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was known as "Chiefy" to friends and family. He was an antique knife collector. Joe was a hard working man with a huge heart. He was known for the advice he would give and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He ran and operated Rapid Transport for 60 years and Chance Tool for 30 years. He always appreciated his loyal employees. They were like family to him. Joe was well respected in his community. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Joe is survived by his wife: Kay Chance of Kermit, TX; son: Michael James Chance and wife Kendall of Midland, TX; brother: Ben Chance of Jal. NM; sister: Wanda Martin of Pecos, TX; grandchild: Cash Michael Chance; and niece: Pattye Fields of Ruidoso, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Willie Mae Chance; and brothers: Arvel Chance, John Chance, Roland Chance, and Preston Chance.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Kermit, TX, officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins. Burial will follow at the Kermit Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: JJ Hefner, Charles Blackwell, Dan Michel, Author Porras, Bill Mike Hefner, Troy Ratliff, Harold Swain, and Randy Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will include: Doug Grimes, Donald Grimes, Steve Brown, Junior Rogers, Ben Chance, Johnny MacOwens Sr., Johnny MacOwens Jr., Jimmy Don Robinson, Jim Ellison, Jimmy Pinson, Ricky Smith, Bill Lewallen, Primitivo "Primo: Supulveda, and Teddy Baremore.
