Joanne Stanley was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She died on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 86 from kidney failure. She spent her final days surrounded by family.
She was born to Maurice and Martha (Stramel) Treiber on January 20, 1936. After graduating from Hayden High School, Joanne married Lee R. Stanley on July 31, 1954. Together they thanked God for seven children: Doug, David, Brenda, Susie, Mark, Kellie, and Scott.
Joanne loved spending time with her family more than anything else. She and Lee enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, canning, and tending their flower gardens. Together they built eight homes throughout their 68 years of marriage. She was a devoted Catholic, and one of her happiest moments was when Lee joined the Catholic faith.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Martha (Stramel) and Maurice Treiber; two brothers, Maurice Jr. and Robert Treiber, two sons, Doug and David Stanley and four grandchildren.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Lee Roy Stanley of Ozawkie, KS; two sons, Mark Stanley of Topeka and Scott Stanley (Wendi) of Ozawkie, KS; three daughters, Brenda Lister (Terry) of Topeka, Susan Grey of Valley Falls, KS, and Kellie Puderbaugh (Les) of Independence, KS; daughter-in-law Sheryl Stanley, sister-in-law Erma Treiber of Topeka, KS; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Joanne will lie in state at Saint Aloysius Catholic in Meriden, KS on Monday, March 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
