Joanne Marie Smith

Joanne M. Smith, "Jo", 82, passed peacefully at her home in Hoschton, Georgia with her daughter and grandchildren by her side on Friday, June 11, 2021. After living more than 10 years with chronic COPD and several years with impaired memory due to dementia.

She was born April 23, 1939 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to the late Russell J. Schrubb and Geraldine M. West.

Ms. Smith went to school in Meadville, Pennsylvania and gained her certificate in nursing assistance. She retired in 1996 from Abington Crest Care in Erie, Pennsylvania.

She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, bowling, showing her beloved collie "Laddie" and was an avid fan of figure skating.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Frances Simmers, brother-in-law, John Covey, sister-in-law, Mary Schrubb and son-in-law, LeMott Belden.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah C. Belden (Winder, GA) and Anna M. Anderson (Erie, PA). Her sister, Harriet M. Covey (Marietta, GA), brothers, Russell J. Schrubb and wife Linda (Erie, PA) and Richard F. Schrubb (Acworth, GA). She is als survived by her 3 grandchildren (Carrie, Sharon, Courtney, 9 great-grandchildren (Mathew, Brittney, Haleigh, Ashleigh, Charles JR, Gabriel, Kameron, Kaden, Charlotte), 4 great-great-grandchildren (Grayson, Sophia, Keelan, Braxton) and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately at Anderson Cemetery at a later date.
