Joanne (Hadley) Persinger, of Medora passed away peacefully just before noon on February 7, 2024 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus of Seymour. She was 76 years old.
Joanne entered this life in Salem, Indiana on May 20, 1947. She was the third born to the late Lerner and Dorothy (Cox) Hadley. She grew up in Vallonia and graduated from Vallonia High School. She spent most of her life in Jackson County close to her family.
Joanne was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Mamaw to those who loved her. She was a staff writer for the Seymour Daily Tribune. She covered all the local news, wrote advice columns, and shared editorials for the community of Jackson County. She retired after 20+ years.
She loved learning about war history. She would spend hours talking with the local veterans on their years of service. Joanne never met a stranger; she would take the time to get to know someone and hear the story of that person's life.
Joanne leaves memories of love with her daughter, Morgan Lowe of Medora, stepchildren Wanda Stumbo and her husband Mark of St. Petersburg, Russia, and Bob Persinger and his wife Martha of Freetown, grandchildren, Kane Moore, Ripley Moore, Jordan Stumbo and his wife Lindsey, and Luke Stumbo, her brother, Jerry Hadley and his wife Helen of Maryland, sisters, Judy Miller and her husband Joe of Brownstown, ad Lori Holloway and her husband Kenny of Nashville, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband Bernard Persinger on January 1, 1985, and her son Larry Moore on December 21, 2023.
A Celebration of Joanne's life will be held at a later date
Joanne will be laid to rest at White River Valley Cemetery.
A remembrance fund has been set up in Joanne's name at the funeral home.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Hague Funeral Home of Medora
