JOANNE HUTCHINSON, Joanne Thomas Hutchinson of Hinckley went out with the winter solstice, Dec. 21, 2021, into her longest night. She was born September 8, 1925 into a prominent steamship family (Buckeye and Pioneer Steamship Companies) and family meant everything to her. She had a very active life, working for many years as a bacteriologist at University Hospitals and even had a bacteria named after her. Joanne traveled extensively throughout the world but was happiest on her farm in Hinckley which her parents had owned. She is predeceased by her parents, John T. and Edna Berry Hutchinson, and by her sisters, Jane Cauffield, Virginia Bates, and Suzanne Milestone, and with her passing a generation has ended. She also leaves seven nephews and nieces who will miss her immensely. Thanks to her many friends who brought joy to her life. Donations may be made to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History or any animal rescue organization. She specified no services, but a big party will be held in good weather. Joanne will always remain in our hearts.
