Joanna Elizabeth Widmer

Joanna E. Widmer, age 87, of Spring Park, passed away peacefully on December 2 (her birthday) after a brief battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Mound, with visitation one hour prior to the mass.

Joanna was born in Waconia, on December 2, 1937 to Edwin and Cora Klein and raised on the family farm. She graduated from Saint Joseph's School and Waconia High School. In January, 1963, she was united in marriage to Carl Widmer and lived in Spring Park, MN.

Joanna was committed to faith, family and friends. She loved her life on the lake and socializing with friends. She loved sitting and looking at the lake and always welcomed others to come fish off the dock.

Proud former employee of Tonka Toys and State Bank of Mound/Marquette Bank/Wells Fargo Bank. She also enjoyed her time serving on the Spring Park City Council and being one of the original Pennywise girls.

Survived by children Steven (Megan), Annette, Mary (Matt) and Bruce (Ann), grandchildren Devin, Billy, Peter and Abby, sister Bonnie Fritz, sisters-in-law Mary Klein and Janet Widmer, many nieces and nephews and special friend Bob.

Preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Cora Klein, husband Carl, sister Marian Wagener, brother Donald Klein and numerous relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Gillespie Center or Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
