JoAnn "Jo" Moulder
"And in the end, it's NOT the years in your life that count. It's the LIFE in your years." Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)
JoAnn Moulder, daughter of Ray Stephen Burrell and Margaret Ann (McBride) Burrell passed away at home on December 31st, 2020, after a long battle with dementia. JoAnn was eighty-eight years old (just shy of 89 years). She was born on January 16th, 1932, in Humansville, Missouri.
Although JoAnn was born in Humansville, she grew up just east of town on her family’s farm. She was baptized in Clear Creek, Missouri. She was the second-to-the-youngest of 8 children and the last of her family to pass. She graduated from high school in Humansville, Missouri. She went on to attend school in Kansas City, Missouri to become a Beauty Operator. It was difficult to make a living, so she moved to Springfield and worked at Sears. Later, she became a relief operator at Lily-Tulip until her retirement in 1989.
JoAnn married Francis Merle Moulder on January 24th, 1953. They attended the same high school, were married for 57 years, and were blessed with two children. She and Merle resided in Kansas City, Missouri, Springfield, Missouri, and together retired at Rice Camp on beautiful Table Rock Lake, in Branson West, Missouri. She was active in the Women’s League with the Elks Lodge in Kimberling City, Missouri. She spent the last 4 ½ years of her life in Norman, Oklahoma living with her son, Randal Moulder and her daughter-in-law/care giver Linda Moulder.
She loved to entertain, enjoyed chocolate, reading a good book, playing a game of cards (especially Pitch and Rummy), dancing with her husband, and welcoming-in family and friends to her home whenever given the chance. She valued her friendships and loved her family. She always wanted her family to be nearby; they meant the world to her! She cherished each connection she had with loved ones and kept each family member close to her heart. She was a supportive wife, loving mom, treasured grandma (Gma), caring great grandma (GG), respected sister, and an affectionate aunt. She found pure joy in spending time with all of them! Even in the latter part of her dementia she lit up to phone calls, cards, letters, photographs, and videos of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Merle Moulder, her parents Ray Stephen Burrell and Margaret Ann (McBride) Burrell, and her 7 brothers and sisters: James Burrell, Travis Burrell, Hazel Bradley, Thelma Spears, Berniece Follin, Ray Burrell, and Donnie Burrell.
She is survived by her children, Renna Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, Randal Moulder and his wife Linda Moulder of Norman, Oklahoma, her 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: her granddaughter Jamie Kastle and husband Michael Kastle and great granddaughters Ivy James Kastle, Rae-Anne Kastle, Sydnee Svejda, Alesa Kastle, her granddaughter Lindsey Hood and husband Josh Hood and great grandsons Knox Dean Hood and Dax Myer Hood, her grandsons Ryan Moulder, Kyle Moulder, and Coleman Jernigan and wife Courtney Stagg and great grandson Coleman Knox Jernigan, her nephews, and beloved nieces.
