Mrs. Joan S. Middleton, 90, of Pageland, SC went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Pageland, SC with her loving family by her side. Joan Short Middleton was born on June 23, 1933 in Rocky Mount, NC and raised in Davidson, NC. She was the daughter of the late Otho Lee and Lucy Brigman Short of Davidson, NC. She was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School and Lenior Rhyne University. She was a retired employee of American Arbitration Association of Charlotte, NC after over thirty years of service and was a proud member of Providence Baptist Church. Joan enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards, working puzzles and knitting. She was the last surviving member of her card group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie "Jody" C. Middleton, Jr.; son, Charlie C. "Joey" Middleton, III" and her brother, Clyde Short. She is survived by her son, Thomas Lee "Tommy" Middleton and wife, Julie of Lancaster, SC; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Chapman and husband, Eugene of Pageland, SC; five grandsons, Ryan Middleton of Columbia, SC, Cameron Middleton and his fianc?, Gabriela Silva of Rock Hill, SC, Wyatt Chapman of Lexington, SC, Rhett Chapman of Charlotte, NC and Tanner Chapman of Pageland, SC and her best friend, Shirley Johnson of Pageland, SC. Always being the great mother and wife she was, she always put her family before herself. Her faith never faltered as her health declined in recent months. There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland with Pastor David Bridwell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland. The family will greet friends immediate following the graveside service. The family would like to thank all the staff at Springhill Assisted Living in Pageland for their exceptionably loving and compassionate care for mom in her final years. The family will be forever grateful to the love they showed her every day.
