JoAnn Walker Montgomery Lanham, 93, of Gravel Switch, KY passed away on September 1, 2025.
JoAnn 's influence extended across generations as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, as a devoted member of Doctor's Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for decades, as a tireless community volunteer, as a farmer, and as a professional woman.
JoAnn, daughter of Walker Dudley Montgomery and Peachie Mae Hurt Montgomery, was a proud 1950 graduate of Junction City High School, in Junction City, KY, and went on to serve in a wide range of professional and volunteer roles including serving as lunchroom manager for Lebanon High School and serving as assistant postmaster, substitute rural carrier, and rural carrier for Gravel Switch. Her dedication to the postal service extended into extensive work with the state and national level National Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary. The travel and connections she established through that organization and her travels with her sisters earned her the moniker--JoJo the GoGo Girl. If there was a trip, you could count JoAnn in!
JoAnn emphasized community involvement through work with the Red Cross blood drives, the American Cancer Society, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Forkland Community Center and Festival, and the Gravel Switch Homemakers. If there was work to be done, JoAnn was there!
Over and above her many accomplishments, JoAnn Lanham was best known for her loving, caring heart and her generosity of spirit that touched all who knew her.
