Belton
JoAnn King Burriss, 89, of Belton, SC went to her heavenly home Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Sloan and Lucille King. Her entire life was defined by her love for the Lord and for her family. She worked as a bookkeeper many years ago, but her main profession was that of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She accompanied her husband, Bob, on countless trips across the country, visiting hundreds of churches where Bob preached and ministered. She was involved in countless ministries in her hometown that ranged from helping the children at church in her younger years, ministering to the elderly at the Belton Meal Site and numerous assisted living/ nursing facilities. She was a faithful, lifetime member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly.
When the Lord called her home, she not only met her Lord and Savior, but was finally reunited with the love of her life, Bob Burriss, her only son Gene Burriss, her mother and father and all her loved ones that have gone on before her. Left to cherish her memory are her one and only grandson Dr. Michael Burriss (Margaret) of Spartanburg, daughter-in-law Carol Burriss of Belton, great step grandchildren Alex Bright and Hardt Bright, sisters Marie Whitfield (Wayne) of Anderson, and Maxine West (Wes) of Anderson, and brother Ronnie King of Piedmont and with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to all her caregivers and nurses throughout her illness, especially the Rainey Hospice House and Comfort Keepers of Spartanburg and JoAnn's beloved friend and caregiver Sebrina Dawkins. Sebrina will forever be considered a part of our family.
In addition to her husband, son, and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Al King and Jimmy King, both of Belton.
Services will be held Wednesday November 16, 2022, at 3pm at Blue Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Jacky Gary and Rev Dwight Greene officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:45-2:45 pm at the church.
Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Rainey Hospice House 1835 Rogers Road Anderson SC 29621 or Blue Ridge Baptist Church 1340 Blue Ridge Ave., Belton SC 29627
