Joan M. Summers, age 87 of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 21, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on July 25, 1935 to the late Claude and Pearl (Scruggs) Parrish in Flint, Michigan. In June, 1954 she married Bennie Ray Menz, who preceded her in death in 1990. In 1996 she married Dean Summers, who passed away in 2002.
Joan was a faithful member of Bristol Road Church of Christ. She enjoyed her job as a school bus driver for Gerrish Higgins Schools for several years. She loved to sing and play cards, and was a good friend. Joan was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Joan will be sadly missed by her son, Matthew (Pam) Menz of Wauseon, OH, daughter-in-law, Marlene Menz, three grandchildren; David (Carla) Menz, Justin Menz and Jennifer Menz, and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Menz, her son, Mark Menz, two grandchildren; Lisa and Danny Menz, and four siblings.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date in Flint, Michigan. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Leukemia Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or Make A Wish Foundation.
