Joan Ann Rutty passed away peacefully after a life filled with love, family, and community. She was a native of Wallace, Idaho. Lived in California for most of her married life and moved to Hawkins, Texas about 6 years ago.
Joan was a genealogy and research librarian for the Tuolumne County Library in Sonora California until retiring in 2010. She was an active member of the Sierra Needle Artists, Sierra Quilt Guild, and the Tuolumne County Genealogical Society. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and sewing.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael Rutty, her daughter Brigette (Tim) McCarthy of Texas, and her son John (Sheryl) Rutty of Virginia. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Jacob, Jesse, Isaac and Andrew and two great-grandchildren, Caiden and Benjamin. She is also survived by her sister Linda Daugherty of Idaho and brother Charles (Laura) Daugherty of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Thecla Rose Wheeler, and other close family members.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County, East Texas Food Bank, or Highway 80 Rescue Mission.
Joan will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
