Joan Ann Pinder, 87, of Worton, MD, passed away on April 7, 2022.
Mrs. Pinder was born on March 30, 1935, in Philadelphia and raised in Lawncrest, PA, the daughter of the late George and Elsie Ogden Ingham. During the summer of 1953, she came to visit Betterton with friends. There she met her future husband on the dance floor. She called her mom and said, "I met the man I'm going to marry." On October 29, 1956, she and Alan Earl Pinder were married by Rev. Bill Dore at St. James Church. Joan worked for the C & P Telephone Company and Maryland National Bank. She and Alan were avid campers, traveling from Maine to Florida on the east coast and as far west as the Mississippi River. They were members of the Maryland Woodchucks and Delaware Travelers camping clubs. In warmer months, she loved being in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alan E. Pinder, in 2013; her son, Alan E. Pinder, Jr, in 1993 and two brothers, James and Robert Ingham.
Mrs. Pinder is survived by her daughter-in-law Tina Pinder Lusby (Mark) of Florida, brothers William 'Bill' Ingham (Cecile) of FL and Richard Ingham of NJ; sister-in-law Patti Ingham of PA; grandchildren, Lyle Pinder (Stav) of FL, Brett Lusby of NY and Lindsay Lusby of Chestertown; a great-grandson Phoenix Pinder; nieces, Cynthia Bryden (Will Stap) and Barbara Gorrow (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 10 to 12 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, MD, where the funeral service will begin at noon. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
