92, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2021. She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and lived most of her life in Indianapolis, where she relocated with her loving husband of 71 years, Tim Hanson. They spent lovely summers in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. She was a long-time member of Nativity Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Paul Hermitage, Beech Grove, Indiana gift shop for many years. Joan earned her Masters Degree in Education and was a teacher for the MSD of Warren Township for 30 years.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Tim. Together, they have four sons, Thomas, Jerry, Joseph, Timothy; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They also have many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Visitation will take place at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington Street on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral and mass services will be held at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue on Saturday, September 4th, at 10:00 a.m. Joan's final resting place will be at Calvary Mausoleum, 435 W. Troy, Indianapolis, IN 46225, however, there will be no graveside service.
