Joan (Jo-Ann) Elizabeth Lewis, 94, of Boiling Springs, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 5th at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehab, joining her husband, Bob, who passed away exactly 10 years ago on February 5th. She was born October 15, 1930, in Carlisle, PA to the late Arthur and Anna Brehm Hollenbaugh.
Joan grew up in Carlisle until her family moved to Florida due to her fatherundefineds health. The family returned to PA two years later, making Camp Hill their home.
Joan worked at Pomeroyundefineds, Harrisburg Y, West Shore Country Club, Woolworth and joined her mother in the antique business in the 80undefineds, still maintaining a booth at Northgate Antiques at the time of her death. She was a lifeguard, participated in swimming for newsreels in Florida and especially loved her time as a Girl Scout Leader in Boiling Springs. She was proud to officiate as Judge of Elections in the 60undefineds. Joan was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Carlisle and the VFW Auxiliary of Boiling Springs.
Joan is survived by two daughters Debra Shull of Boiling Springs and Susan (Randy) Davidson of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Heather (Gary) Baboian of Las Vegas and Justin (Kristi) Davidson of Dillsburg and great-grandchildren Connor and Reese.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (2/5/15), brother Richard Hollenbaugh and son-in-law Dennis Shull.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13th at Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 North Baltimore Avenue, Mt. Holly Springs, PA. There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S Bedford St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, especially the nurses and staff in the rehab and dementia areas.
