Joan Jones, of Naples, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. She is survived by husband of 51 years, Stephen "Al" Jones Jr. and children: Karen Wood, Bill Wood, Mike / Maureen (wife) Wood and Terry Wood, Stephen Jones III, Kenya Dylina, Carla Ellis, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Sisters Betty and Marilyn.
Joan was born on June 22, 1934, on her family's farm in Washington, Indiana. She was the second of five daughters of Theodore "Ted" and Mary Murphy. Joan graduated from St Anthony's School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She moved to Naples Florida in 1963. Joan was retired from Naples Community Hospital & a local eye surgeon practice. Later she and her husband, Al opened an emu farm and successful Glazed Nut business. Joan was known for her awesome smile, a great sense of humor and when you meet her, you knew she was someone you could trust. In her retirement years she loved to travel, entertain large family and friend gatherings, host cookouts, play cards and the slots. She would have played Lotto in many combinations of 02-22-2022.
Joan's family asked:
"That you spend time with your children, have lots of cookouts, take many trips, make friends with a stranger, play card games, make a toast (with sweet tea) to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond, may her smile & her spirit be remembered by each of you. Remember to thank her when she helps you draw that winning ace high flush in your next game of cards. That is what Joan would wish for you."
A memorial service to be held at end of June. On line condolences at www.fullernaples.com
