Mrs. Joan E. Funk, of Pittsfield, passed away at her longtime home on Friday, September 2, 2022, just a week after celebrating her 92nd birthday. Born in Schaghticoke, NY on August 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Norman and Bertha Kraus Frazee, she graduated from Lansingburgh High School in the class of 1947.
Joan had been employed as a bookkeeper by Cluett Peabody and Co., Main Stream Woodworks, Liberty Package Store, and the Store at Canyon Ranch. She also worked at Liberty Reality, Independent Home Services as a homemaker for the elderly, and volunteered at the Dawes School Library and in the mail room at Berkshire Medical Center.
Her favorite role was being a mom, taking care of her family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, music, and serving on the Alter Guild at Zion Lutheran Church.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Hugo A. Funk, whom she married on May 5, 1956, her brother and sister-in-law Earl and Laura Frazee, her brother-in-law Stanley Hicks, her brother and sister-in-law Norman and Vivian Frazee, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward and Gertrude Ruch.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Kyrsten) Funk, Stephen (Kim) Funk, and Timothy Funk, her sister Mrs. Barbara Hicks, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mrs. Joan E. Funk will be Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Albany, NY, where Joan will be laid to rest beside her husband. Joan donated to many charities over the years, and in lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, the Christian Center, Elder Services, the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Berkshire Medical Center, and HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral.
