Jo Ann Yates, 88, of Williamsburg, VA went to be with the Lord, peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 3, 2018. She was a loving and faithful wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an inspiration in gentleness to all who knew her.
A native Texan, Jo Ann worked for Phillips Petroleum until retiring in 1985. Throughout her life, she lived in Borger, Fritch, McAllen and Amarillo. She raised two children, James and Mary Ellen, then traveled extensively with her husband of 59 years, James. Together they lived in their RV for many years, visiting all of North America and eventually parts of Europe. In addition to traveling Jo Ann enjoyed cooking, crafting, oil painting and especially landscaping.
She is survived by her son James R. Yates & his wife Sharon; son-in-law Bill Welsh; grandchildren, Benjamin B. Yates & wife Linda, Erin Kahn & husband Marc, Jennifer M. Yates & husband John; Melissa Gregoire & husband Tom; and a number of great-grandchildren.
