Jo Ann Brasfield, 80, of West Memphis, Arkansas, passed from this life on earth on Monday, December 13, 2021. Because she had a personal trust in salvation through Jesus Christ, her Lord, she is now in peace in heaven.
Mrs. Brasfield was born on April 20, 1941, in Blytheville, Arkansas to parents, James E. and Ollie Battles. During her life she was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as, a loving and devoted wife of 61 years to Cotton Brasfield. She was a dedicated worker, including working with her son, David's many companies, and holding office positions for several doctors' offices in the West Memphis area. Her hobbies and passions included baking and cooking. She was known to whip up many a feast for her family, friends and anyone that needed a good meal. Over the years she won multiple awards and prizes for her chocolate pies and banana pudding. She spent most of her days worshipping the Lord and reading His word. She could recite you a bible verse for any trouble or hurt you had in life. She had many friends that she enjoyed playing bunco with and no matter what was going on, she made sure to catch every Alabama and Bronco football game. She loved spending time with her great-grand-daughter, Olivia, playing "dollies" and telling her stories. She treasured her family and many friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lori B. Taylor; youngest son, David Brasfield; beloved sister, Dorothy Lovelady and brother, Eugene Battles.
Jo Ann is survived by her husband, Cotton Brasfield; son, Donald Wayne Brasfield; brother, Don Battles; daughter-in-law, Kim Brasfield; grandchildren, L. Ashley Sellers (Bubba), Casey Brasfield, Micah Ralph ( Mark), Maggie Brasfield and Bear Drake Brasfield; two great-grand-children, Olivia Sellers and Maverick Ralph.
A visitation will be held at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, beginning at 9:30 am, with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be held after the service at Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Arkansas. The family asks that everyone in attendance please wear masks.
Friends are invited to gather with the family at the West Memphis Church of God on Bond Street in West Memphis following the burial.
