James Stanley Richey, age 74, passed away November 13, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County.
He was born February 16, 1948, in New Albany, MS, to Houston Mayes Richey and Loray Robertson Richey.
He was a 1965 graduate of East Union Attendance Center and 1967 graduate of Nashville Automotive Diesel College. He worked for Merchants Trucking as a mechanic out of college. He also taught Diesel Mechanics at Northeast Mississippi Junior College for 3 years and Automotive Mechanics for 28 years at New Albany Vocational Center. He drove a school bus and was a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard for 24 years, Rank E-7 Sergeant First Class.
Mr. Richey was a member of First Baptist Church of New Albany. He loved hunting, fishing, and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Services for Mr. Richey will be Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Jimmy Porter officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until service time. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judy Garrison Richey, one daughter, Lacretia Richey Wilkinson (Rusty), three step-daughters, Regina Richey Porch (Mack), Crystal Richey Ivy (Louis), Jessica Richey Atkins (Brian), and one step-son, Daniel Richey (Sherry). Four grandchildren, Zane Wilkinson (Maggie), Joel Wilkinson, Caroline Wilkinson, and Heath Wilkinson. Seven step-grandchildren, Josh Richey (Madison), Emily Richey, Olivia Porch, Dan Porch (Mallory), Jacob McGregor, Pacey Kelly, and Caiden Ivy, and one sister, Betty Richey Smith.
