Jimmy Ray Phillips, age 85, passed away Monday October 23rd, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Columbus, MS. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Memorial Gunter Peel
Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
Jimmy was born June 5, 1938, in Tupelo, MS to the late Ulric Culmer and Mellie Moore Phillips. He
attended Vibrant Church with his family and lived at Trinity Personal Care in Columbus, MS. Jimmy was
a retired Industrial Supervisor and spent his retirement with the love of his life. Jimmy and his late wife
were married for 67 years before her passing in 2022.
Hobbies he loved were playing games, taking rides with his friends from Trinity, and spending time with
family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Reading scripture with his older brother for
hours on the phone. He truly lived by the word of God.
Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Louise Burleson Phillips. Two brothers, Gordon and
Gary Phillips. Two sisters, Judy Phillips Clements and Joanne Phillips Ellis.
Surviving loved ones are two sons, Timothy Phillips and Scott Phillips (Karen). Sister, Joyce Phillips
Alexander (Bud), eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
