Jimmy Moore, affectionately known as "Chowboy", age 64 of Jackson, Georgia, died Sunday, January 12, 2025, after a long fight with Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH).
He was born on July 21, 1960, to Bobby and Ruby Kate Moore. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Jackson where he attended Jackson High School and graduated in 1979.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Bobby and Ruby Kate Moore of Jackson and his beloved Christine "Tinkie" Loomis, who he considered another mother, also of Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kim Pope Moore of Jackson. His daughter Chastity Brown and son in law, Joey of Jackson and daughter Kelsey Davis and son in law Clay of Lake Park. Three of the best moments of Jimmy's life were becoming a grandparent. He was affectionately known as "Grumpy and Bippy" to his three grandchildren Lily Brown of Jackson, Bo Brown of Jackson and Laney Kate Sublett of Lake Park who were all his favorites. Survivors also include his brother Terry Moore and his wife Janice of Jackson along with their children. Jimmy is also survived by Jody Glidwell who he considered his son and Henry "Snake" Smith who was more of a friend to Jimmy than an employee.
Jimmy started his career in the timber industry when he was very young. When he graduated from Jackson High School he continued his father's legacy as a logger. Jimmy and his brother, Terry built one of the largest timber companies in middle Georgia, Moore and Crowell Inc. Jimmy also served his community as a longtime county commissioner during the 1990s and early 2000s. During his tenure as a county commissioner, he was instrumental in helping save our community hospital, paving roads in Butts County and many other things that have helped make Butts County what it is today. Jimmy also helped found Eagle's Brooke Community Church where he served as an elder.
Jimmy was best known for his ability to make everyone he met feel like they had been friends for life. Jimmy had a tender heart and was also known for his generosity and helping others. In the community you could find Jimmy grabbing a biscuit at Hunters Cafe, stopping by the Brownlee Texaco to find out what was going on in Jackson and eating lunch at Cooks Lunchroom. Jimmy also loved talking on his phone. You knew if Jimmy called it was going to be a good conversation that would make you laugh, and it was going to last a while.
