Jimmy E. "Jim" Surber, 82, resident of Falkner, departed this life on Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2022 at his home.
Funeral Services remembering the life of Mr. Surber will be at 11 AM Wednesday, October 26 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at Falkner Cemetery.
Mr. Surber was born July 23, 1940 in Memphis, TN, the last surviving child of the late Herman and Jimmie McEwen Surber. A graduate of Memphis Tech High School, Mr. Surber continued his education at The University of Memphis where he played the trumpet in the marching band. A valued independent agent in the insurance industry , he took much pride in working with many different agencies, making lasting friendships and never retiring.
A member of Falkner Baptist Church, Mr. Surber will be remember for his love of golf and watching westerns on television. Devoted family man, loving father, much adored "Papaw" and dear friend, he surrounded himself with those he felt most comfortable and loved. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will continue Wednesday, October 26 from 9 AM to 11 AM at The Ripley Funeral.
Memories will continue to be shared by his three sons, Jimmy E. Surber, Jr of New Albany, Don Surber (Jen) and Kevin Surber (Mary), both of Falkner, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lula Mae "Lou" Wilbanks Surber, a daughter in law, Kim Surber, one sister, Ruby Clayton (Bill), two brothers, Earl Surber (Pat) and Raymond Surber (Ann).
