Jimmy "Jim" Royce Collins, age 88 of Powder Springs passed away July 6, 2022. Jim was born in Douglasville, GA, moved to California for naval deployments, traveled the world via the US Navy including Antarctica for Operation Argus nuclear warhead testing in 1958, and spent the last 50 years in Powder Springs, Georgia. Master Chief Jim Collins was assigned to the guided missile unit and had 3 deployments to Vietnam. MCPO Collins also served as a curriculum coordinator / technical writer and ended his career in charge of the recruiting station in Atlanta. Jim loved gardening, helping others and bicycling (averaging over 5,000 miles per year until a hit and run accident). Jim is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his son, James Patrick Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Cloa Mae Westbrook Collins; his daughter, Lisa Collins; and extended family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Barriman Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim's name to Austell Christian Church, 5624 Edith Street Austell, GA 30106.
