Jimmie Tennant Wood, age 90, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September
17, 2022. Jimmie was born in Atlanta on December 16 1931, to the late Paul and Maude Wood.
Jimmie was an employee of Georgia Power as a Foreman for the Switchboard Department and
retired in 1991. He served his country in the Navy from 4/1/52 transferring to the U.S. Naval
Reserves on 3/20/56, then receiving an Honorable Discharge on 3/31/60. He received the
following Decorations, Medals, Badges, Commendations, Citations and Campaign Ribbons:
Good Conduct, KPUG, National Defense, Korean Service, China Service, United Nations. He
was an avid lover of reading, writing poetry, crossword puzzles and woodworking, watching
game shows and westerns. Jimmie was also a huge Georgia Tech fan and enjoyed going to
games in his earlier years. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and
friend.
Jimmie is survived by his daughters, Susan W. Scarboro (Stan); Paula W. McClure (Ken);
grandchildren Marie Roberts (Steve), Kelli LIttlefield-Pawloski (David), Steven Scarboro (Lora),
Stacy Morgan (Wayne), and Taylor McClure (Kara). He also has 15 great-grandchildren.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Evelyn D. Wood, his brother, Leland A.
Wood, and parents Paul L. and Maude M. Wood
Jimmie requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Due to the recent influx of COVID, the family has decided to have a private celebration of life
with close friends and family.
