Jimmie Malene (Pate) Moore,77, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away surrounded by her family on April 30, 2022. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 21, 1944, daughter of the late Dr. James A. Pate and Frances Shirley Pate. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1962 and was crowned "Miss Jackson" that same year.
Jimmie later attended Union University and was a proud Chi Omega sorority member. At a fraternity get together, she was "pinned" by the handsome John R. Moore. The couple were married, December 28, 1963, and remained devoted partners for over 58 years. Besides being a devoted wife and mother to 3 young girls, Jimmie also served her country as a military wife for 21 years. She tirelessly packed and moved EVERYONE, including Bubbles the dog, every 3-4 years as duty called. She supported John as a military spouse and played a significant role in his life and morale as a service member of the United States Navy.
In her time moving around the country, Jimmie never met a stranger! She had not one best friend, but many! She met and kept in touch with every single one.
Jimmie was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman of many talents. Besides being a great wife and mother, she had quite an eye for design. Jimmie gave tirelessly of her time and energy decorating many homes of family and friends. If there were any questions as to which design "choices" to make, the answer was always to "call Jimmie". Her own home was a beautiful masterpiece of design perfection.
Jimmie would say that her greatest accomplishment was found in serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a proud member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. She volunteered with her husband John for many service projects, including delivering regularly for Meals on Wheels and packing backpacks for students in need.
In addition to her parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by her loving sister Betty Joyce Powell. Jimmie is survived by her husband, John, and daughters, Julie Moore (Chelsea Schwendimann) of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Heather Gallaspy (James) of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and Erin Moore Samuels of Hendersonville, Tennessee. She is also survived by 5 wonderful grandchildren: Brandon and Ben Samuels, and Grayson, Ella, and Abby Gallaspy. Survivors also include sisters, Frances Phillips, Jackie Weidenbach, and brother Randy and Cindy Pate. Not least of all, she is also survived by her loving grand dogs, Gabbi, Pebbles, Peanut, and Stanley.
Jimmie will be remembered for giving of her time and love relentlessly to people that needed her. There are no words that can effectively encompass all the special qualities that God gave her. She was the closest thing to Jesus on this side of Heaven.
The family would like to thank Amanda Hill, Blessed Home Care, and Highpoint Hospice for the tenderness, care, and love given to Jimmie during her illness.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Hendersonville Chapel on Friday, May 20 at 10am, with service to follow at 11.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Hendersonville Homebound Meals or Sumner County Food Bank.
