Jimmie Brooks, 96, of Carthage, TX, went to Heaven on Sunday morning, April 4, 2021, at her home in Carthage. She was born on November 1, 1924 in Rusk County to the late Dewey and Essie Maye Faulkner.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Brooks; daughter, Sandra Lynn Brooks; sister, Nell Brightwell; great-granddaughter, Miranda Alexander; and son-in-law, Tim Harkrider.
She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Alexander and husband David, Cynthia Harkrider, and Lisa Cockrell and her husband Mike all of Carthage; grandchildren, Dr. John Alexander and wife Misty, Kelly Blackerby and husband Scott, Billy Alexander and wife Ashlee, Dr. Tim Harkrider II and wife Toni, Kip Harkrider, Micah Cockrell and wife Lindsay, and Cara Bardwell and husband Blake; great-grandchildren, Jody Alexander, FC3, Seth Blackerby US Navy, USS Makin Island, Brooke Blackerby, Hunter Alexander, Conner Alexander, Dylan Harkrider, Reece Harkrider, Meredith Harkrider, KJ Harkrider, Laney Harkrider, Brooks Cockrell, Paisley Cockrell, Cooper Cockrell, Blair Bardwell and Brody Bardwell; great-great-grandson, Trace Harkrider; and nieces, Ronda Merritt and Tami Snider.
She graduated from Henderson High School in 1940, and later married John W. Brooks in Rusk County. She was employed with the Department of Public Safety Driver's License Office for 20 Years. She retired and enjoyed working in her flower gardens and spending time with her girls and grandchildren.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Carthage and enjoyed singing with the Silver Tones Choir. She was a member of The Red Hat Society, Eastern Star and enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their sports and activities.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 7, 2021, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Dodson, Rev. Steve Jackson and Dr. Monty Pierce officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Waldrop Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Dr. John Alexander, Dr. Tim Harkrider II, Billy Alexander, Kip Harkrider, Micah Cockrell, Blake Bardwell and Scott Blackerby.
The family would like to express special appreciation to loving caregivers, JoElla Walls, Vicki Alexander, Gloria McGee, Joann Rhodes, Margie Salone, Betty Lewis and Elaine Hicks.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
