Jim Meritt, 78, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 in Lubbock. Jim was born on June 27, 1941 in Jefferson, Oklahoma to Elmer Meritt and Alice Combs Meritt. He had graduated from Jefferson High School and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He married Judith Ann Wideman on August 1, 1969 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They had lived in Oklahoma and were currently living in Lubbock. He had worked for Owens Supply, Farmland Insurance, and Ranger Insurance Company. He was a member and had served as an officer with the Nifty 50's Car Club in Lubbock. He enjoyed antique cars and working on them, camping, and going to reunions, and he was a Methodist. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy Meritt of Lubbock, 3 brothers, John Merrit and wife, Judy, of Lancaster, California, Ray Meritt and wife, Mary, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Tom Meritt of Woodward, Oklahoma, 1 sister, Mildred Wilson of Enid, Oklahoma, and numerous nephews and nieces. Family graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Pond Creek Cemetery in Pond Creek, Oklahoma with Pastor Bill McKissick officiating.
