Jim Alderman, formerly of Marysville, WA, died in Chandler, AZ, of Alzheimer's dementia, on April 11th, 2024. He was born to James and Helen Alderman, in Stuart, Nebraska on Nov. 1st, 1936. His parents and sister Dianne Vandervoort, preceded him in death. He graduated from Concordia High school and went on to receive his teaching degree at Fort Hayes Kansas State College. Jim received his master's in mathematics from the same institution and taught high school math in various Kansas schools for nineteen years. He moved his family to Marysville in 1977. Jim worked for Cascade Surveying & Engineering prior to his position with the Snohomish County Planning Dept. He retired after twenty-two years of service. In his earlier years, Jim coached boys' and girls' tennis in the Shawnee Mission School District and helped establish the first state tournament for the girls. Both teams won several state championships. He was also a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, the Awana program, and taught Sunday school classes; Jim loved the Lord. He leaves his wife of fifty-three years, Kathy (Smith) and two sons; Matthew (Mari) of Snoqualmie, WA, and Christopher of Chandler, AZ. Grandchildren Maya of Silverdale, WA, and Petty Officer 3rd Class, Tyler, of the US Navy.
