Jessie Earl Nickes Sr., 75, of Cottonwood Shores, Texas passed away July 3, 2022. He was born to James Ernest and Katherine Marie (Priest) Nickes on February 26, 1947 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
After High School, Jessie selflessly joined the United States Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a very proud a patriotic American and loved our country. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10376 and served at Past Commander, Vice Commander, and currently held the position of Quartermaster. Jessie was the previous owner of two Maaco paint and body shop franchises, one in Dallas and one in Houston. During his time owning Maaco, he received many service awards through the company. Jessie was an accomplished musician and guitar player. He loved covering the music of people like Merl Haggard, Mickey Newberry, Conway Twitty and many other classics from the 1970's and 1980's. He will be dearly missed and was greatly respected in his community.
Jessie is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Sandy Nickes of Cottonwood Shores; brother Archie Nickes and sister Yvonne Driskill; children, Yvette Jennings and husband John, Jessie Nickes, Jr., Stormy Nickes, Joseph Nickes and wife Trisha Jo; stepchildren, Josh Ludwig and wife Penny, Mary Alexander, Billy Ludwig and wife Jamie; grandchildren, Danielle Nickes, Ryland Townsend, Brady Smith, Rayne Provencal, Braycen Nickes, Jacob Read, Hannah Alexander, Makayla Alexander, Reagen Ludwig, Raymond Alexander, and Bella Ludwig. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren; Jessie is preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10376, 1001 Veterans Drive, Marble Falls, Texas 78654.
A Celebration of Jessie's life will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10376 in Marble falls with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard rendering Military Honors.
