Jerry Don Morris, 84, of Bastrop Texas passed away 16th of December 2021 due to an unexpected stroke. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones at St. David Hospital, Austin Texas. Jerry lived life to the fullest, enjoying his independence to the very end. Jerry Don was born on 05/16/1937 to his loving parents Earl and Ruth Morris, in Shawnee, OK.
Jerry grew up working on a family farm, riding his favorite roping horse, and causing a ruckus whenever he could. At 18, he joined the army and served while traveling throughout Europe. Upon returning, he used his skills from the service and started a career as a professional truck driver. He enjoyed meeting and visiting with fellow truck drivers at their favorite truck stop.
Jerry was wise in life; he shared his wisdom always finding the right words to soothe the soul leaving an imprint on each person he touched. He believed in working hard and doing his best every day. Being a true cowboy....he believed in grit, honor, and truth. He enjoyed his time with his loved ones, sharing his passion for the outdoors. With weekly excursion of boating, horseback riding, and camping. He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Although he loved the outdoors, he was often heard saying, fishing was not for him, "that I do know".
Jerry met Betty Ann Morris in 1968. They were married that same year in July 1968 in San Jose, California. Together they raised a blended family of 9 children: Jerry with three children Julie Rose, Jerrell, and Leslie. Betty with six children, Anthony, Julie, Arthur, Helen, Jennie, Jackie, and her mother Helen Lugo.
Jerry is survived by many loving individuals, including Son: Jerrell Morris and Daughters: Julie Rose Morris, Leslie Morris-Herzog, Julie Alva, Helen Bergold, Jackie Young. Sister: Nancy Wakefield.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Ann Morris, Sons: Anthony Alva, Arthur King, Daughters: Jennielynn Breslauer, his sister Terry Maben and his parents Earl and Ruth Morris.
Jerry Don requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Jerry Don's loved one to join us in celebrating his beautiful life. Location and times to be announced.
