Wisley, Jerry Lynn: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jerry, born on December 24, 1936. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 8, 2021. Jerry was born in Oklahoma City to Earl Jackson Bruce and LeAutha Tucker Wisley. At an early age, the family relocated to Dallas. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956. Known as "Dusty" on the football field, he was proud to play football for both Woodrow Wilson High School and Arlington State College. In 1963, Jerry graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree. Returning to Dallas after graduation, he began the long and successful career that he loved for over 45 years as Principal of Jerry L. Wisley, Architects and Planners.
An avid pilot, Jerry spent most of his free time flying his airplane, working on his airplane, or thinking about his airplane. He began flying in the Naval Reserve after high school and continued his love for aviation his entire life. Involved in the Commemorative Air Force for over 40 years, Jerry was a "member-for-life." He held numerous positions, including working with the Marshaling detachment for over 25 years. He loved the war birds and working air shows for the CAF. From an early age, Jerry's family encouraged him to support the community. He served as president of Exchange Park Lions for Lions Club International, Dallas. In addition to participating in The 500, Inc., the Optimist Club, and the Kiwanis Club, in recent years he joined the Preston Center Rotary Club, where he encouraged his grandchildren to serve their community. He was always active in Bible studies and church for his entire life, serving in many capacities. At his death, he was a member of Highland Country Fellowship. Jerry was a proud father and grandfather. A good man, he had a love for all people and enjoyed talking to every person he met. His parents and older brother precede him in death. Jerry is lovingly remembered and celebrated by two sons, four grandchildren, and numerous other family members. His wife of over 20 years, Linda Crockett Wisley, and stepson, Austin, also survive him.
