Jerry B. Ford, age 93, passed away Wednesday March 8, 2024, at NHC Healthcare.
Jerry was born on August 16, 1930, in Lexington, NC to the late Rufus Homer and Edith Hill Tysinger. She spent her early years in Lexington and in Athens, GA where she attended school as well as business school. After Marrying she and her husband Max moved to Society Hill, SC where they purchased and restored an old plantation home the Japonica Hall, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1977 they moved to Myrtle Beach where they purchased and operated the Admiral Motor Inn and in later years the Dunes and the Sun and Sand Motels. After Max's death she married Jim Ford and she moved to Pawleys Plantation where they socialized and were avid golfers. She was a member of their women's golf league. Jerry loved her fish pond, working puzzles and also working in the yard, especially with her flowers. She loved her cat, Savannah who is lost without her.
She is preceded in death by brother Rober Homer Tysinger, and her sister Beatrice Joan Reimsnider.
She is survived by her son Sandy (Sara) Bunting of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Jamie (Johnny) Johnson, Jenny (Adam) Chestnut and Shawn (Jen) Mishoe; 5 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; Sister Dana (Charles) Collins of Raleigh, NC; many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Graveside Service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday May 16, 2024, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. The family will receive friends at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet, SC the same day from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
