Jerry Wayne Dixon Jr., 60, of Gilmer, was born on June 7, 1959, in Longview, Texas to Jerry Wayne Dixon Sr and Phyllis Kay Bryant Dixon. He passed from this life June 15, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gilmer, on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Tim Miller presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.
Jerry Wayne worked as a truck driver for Custom Commodities until the time of his death. He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish anywhere at any time. He was also an avid hunter, who scouted South Texas and the Hill Country for numerous guides and outfitters. He also owned and operated Dixon Trucking Company at one time.
He is survived by his father, Jerry Dixon Sr and stepmother, Judy Dixon; his loving fiancee, Debbie Lynn Copeland; sisters, Tammy Hill and husband, Kurt, Darla Miller and husband, Tim; brother, Richard Dixon; brother in law, Ben Dawson and wife, Amanda. He is also survived by nieces and nephews who he loved so much; by Debbie's grandchildren that he loved as his own; and by his stepchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Kay Dixon; sister, Sandy Dawson; and by his beloved fur baby, Star.
