Jerry Delane Cameron 74, of Lula, GA passed away on August 28, 2018 peacefully at his home.
Jerry was born on August 24, 1944 in Sanford, NC. His father, Eugene Cameron preceded him in death. Jerry graduated from Sanford Central H.S. in 1962 and Elon College in 1966. He served as President of the Student Government during his senior year at Elon College. He worked for Sears until he was drafted into the army in 1967. He served as an MP on Nike Missile Base, serving officially as Company Clerk and unofficially as Training NCO and Chaplain's assistant. Jerry returned to Sears and held numerous management positions, including Southeast Regional Manager for Installed Home Improvements. He retired in 2002. Jerry then entered into ministry as a local Methodist pastor in the North Georgia District. He served Hickory Flat UMC, Clemons Chapel UMC, and Holly Springs UMC. He also served as a chaplain at NEGA Medical Center.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pamela Jackson Peterson Cameron, his daughter Heather Cameron Greenawald from Carmel, IN, son Brad Cameron (Allison) from Dallas, TX, step-daughters Melanie Peterson Bliss (Jason) from Atlanta, and Lisa Peterson Combs (Brian) from Sugar Hill. His mother Ruby Cameron, brother Donald (Gail) from Sanford, NC, and sister Carolyn Herndon (Tommy) from Richmond, VA. Grandchildren are Ella, Cameron, and Harper Greenawald; Frannie and Crawford Cameron; Allison and Tyler Bliss.
A memorial service will be held at Gainesville First United Methodist Church on September 6 at 2:00pm with reception following.
