Jerome "Jerry" P. Stanoch, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully Oct. 12, 2021, at Maplewood at Cuyahoga Falls. He was surrounded by family when he entered the gates of heaven.
Jerry was born May 18, 1941, in Chicago to Peter and Dolores Stanoch. He attended Loyola Academy, Chicago, attended John Carroll University and Case Western University Law School. He completed his Master's in Accountancy at the University of Akron.
He was a Certified Public Accountant, beginning his career at Firestone Corporation. He was a founding co-partner at Schlabig and Associates in 1976. He left public accounting to pursue a career as an entrepreneur of local companies, including Omnicor Inc. and Mutual Oil and Gas. He worked for Kenmore Construction as Vice President, Office Operations. He retired from Kenmore in 2018 and continued to consult.
A lifetime baseball fan, he was a huge supporter of amateur baseball in Akron. He was inducted into the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 for sponsoring the Akron Omnicor team from 1982-1989 and for his support as a Walsh Jesuit High School Baseball Booster.
Family, faith and friendship meant everything to Jerry, a legacy he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 28 years, Diana, (nee Smith); his and Diana's children, Catherine Rose, Polly (Roger) Rix, Terrence (Sara), Kristen (Timothy) Ott, Richard (Staci) Mordew, and Jerime (Sara) Mordew; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sr. Christine Stanoch and brother, Peter (Shirley). He leaves behind many close family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Phillip; his sisters-in-law Wanda Smith and Sharon Dean (nee Smith); his son-in law, Edward Rose; and, 3 grandchildren, Michael, Amy and Henry.
Visitation is scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. with a time of sharing & remembrance at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St., Akron. There will be
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 West Market St., Fairlawn.
Interment will be private at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
