On December 31, 2019, Jerome Francis Dederich died peacefully at his home in The Villages, FL. He was born in Grosse Pointe, MI on August, 22, 1927 but he left home at the age of 17 to join the Merchant Marines followed closely by the Navy where he served for 35 years in various commands, most notably, as Craft Master of Landing Craft LCU1472 and as Master Chief of the Command at NAS Pensacola.
He traveled all over the world with both the Navy and his one true love, Doris Butt whom he married in Norfolk, VA in 1951. He is survived by his wife Doris, and his 3 children, Jerry (Cindy), Cathy (Dan), and Linda (Jay), 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jerry devoted his life to service; in the Navy, The Knights of Columbus,The Retired Sergeants Major and Chiefs of Central Florida, The Florida Chief Petty Officer's Association,, The Fleet Reserve Association, The American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and most importantly...his family. He will be missed tremendously by those whose lives he touched.
A military burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on February 3, 2020 at 2 PM.
