Jermaine L. (Bartsch) Sabourin, of Fox Lake, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam with devoted friends by her side. She is now pain free and enjoying all the glories of heaven.
Jermaine was born October 1, 1930, to Oscar and Amanda Bartsch of Hustisford. She was baptized, confirmed (in German) and married at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. She graduated from Hustisford High School and was employed in Milwaukee until 1955, when she came home to take over the family business known as Bartsch's Store or called, "The Big Little Store". On August 11, 1956, she married Joe Sabourin and he joined the family business full time in 1980 upon his retirement from Chrysler Marine in Hartford. The store celebrated 100 years of serving the community in 1991. After Joe's sudden death, selling the business and moving to a new home in Fox Lake,
Jermaine became involved in volunteering at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Her service was Treasurer of the gift shop. She was also a volunteer in the hospital's Partners. Here she made many new friends and wonderful friends.
She was a lifetime member of Bethany Ladies Aid where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She drove to church every Sunday from Fox Lake. She had a strong faith in God and always spoke of looking forward to going to her heavenly home.
She was a member of Hustisford Legion Auxiliary Unit 420 and also belonged to the Hustisford Lioness Club. Her hobby was having a beautiful collection of elephants, with many given to her from faithful friends. She was a Brewer fan and was very knowledgeable about many of the players. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers. If you asked what her favorite food was, she would quickly respond with "Mashed potatoes with a fried egg on top".
She is survived by her son Gregory of Mauston, nephew Dennis Graven, RedWing, Minnesota, cousin Betty Jane Kreutzer, special families, the Henschels and the Bocks, and many friends from Hustisford, Beaver Dam and Fox Lake.
Visitation for Jermaine will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 269 Lake St., Hustisford, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Hustisford Cemetery.
Thank you to her neighbor Mary Smith for her kindness.
