Jeremy Brian Schmitz

Jeremy Brian Schmitz, age 45, of Gunter, Texas, passed away in Sherman, Texas, on September 5, 2021. He was born on February 25, 1976, to Jerome David and Karen Darlene (Denton) Schmitz in Muenster, Texas. On May 2, 1993, Jeremy married Shanie Renae Russell in Van Alstyne, Texas. He worked in the construction industry as a welder and was active in the Gunter community where he enjoyed coaching little league teams. When in high school, Jeremy was an All-State catcher on the first team in Gunter history to win a State Baseball Championship. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shanie Schmitz of Sherman, Texas; his children, Garrett Schmitz of Sherman, Texas, Kaylee Schmitz of Sherman, Texas, and Colton Schmitz of Sherman, Texas; his sisters, Lori Schmitz and Jeremy Reimer of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Tina Blanton and husband, Shelton of Sherman, Texas, and Misty Jernigan and husband, Cedrick of Sherman, Texas; his brothers, Jeffrey Schmitz and wife, Melissa of Sherman, Texas, and Joel Schmitz and wife, Bree of Southmayd, Texas; Becca Schmitz of Sherman, Texas; his parents-in-law, Merle and Cinda Russell of Gordonville, Texas; his step-father, Tim Fishpaw and wife, Vicki of Summerland Key, Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, one great-nephew, cousins, and many, many friends. Jeremy was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Schmitz and Karen Fishpaw. hgA Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Gunter, 99 Gentle Creek Lane, Gunter, Texas 75058, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Roy Layman and Danny Miller officiating.
