Funeral Mass for Jeremiah Powers Jr. , 68, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1010 NW 82nd Street, with the Rev. Phillip Seeton officiating.
Services are under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.
Jeremiah Jr. was born Aug. 17, 1954, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to Myrtle Powers and the late Jeremiah Powers Sr. He grew up in Pascagoula until the family relocated in the Fort Sill/Lawton area due to his father's military service. He graduated from Lawton High School with the Class of 1974. A hard worker, he established the first Taco Bell #909 in Lawton after high school and retired from Serco.
Jerry had a very caring spirit and cherished time spent with his family.
Jeremiah Jr. passed away peacefully Aug. 30, 2022, surrounded by his family's love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jeremiah Powers Sr. and brother Thomas Powers.
He is survived by his mother, Myrtle, of Lawton; brother, Clyde Powers of Bluffton, S.C.; sisters, Velma Powers, Allie Powers and Valerie Powers of Lawton, Angela Powers and her husband Richard McPherson of Edmond, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Lydia Powers of Lawton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins along with other relatives and friends.
