Jennifer L. Ratto of Abilene left this life Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the age of 59.
She passed in her sleep after a nearly year-long battle with a non-curable neurological disorder, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She now walks without pain and has clear thoughts.
Jennifer was born June 9, 1963 in Corsicana, Texas to Arlee Lockhart and Gladys (Martin) Ivy. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1981, and married Jimmie (Darroll) Ratto, Jr. May 17, 1986. She served as Fiscal Director for Taylor County Community Supervision and Corrections Department for 24 years, retiring and then returning as a contract employee for CSCD for 11 years.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, Mimi and friend, always willing to help others. She enjoyed fishing, crafting, cooking and shopping.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Arlee Lockhart; a brother, Ray Unger; sister Becky Evans; both sets of grandparents; and Woodrow Ivy and Robert Unger, who were both significant father figures in her life.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Darroll Ratto of Abilene; son Brody Ratto and wife Jennifer (Jenny) and their daughter, Melanie; son Seth Ratto; mother Gladys Martin Ivy; brother Bobby Unger; several nieces and nephews; Lou Unger, who was a special mother figure; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Patsy Ratto; and sister-in-law Ramona Ratto.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Beltway Park Church Chapel, 4009 Beltway S., in Abilene. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Rocky Creek Cemetery, 4300 CR 557, Brownwood.
