Help us celebrate Jennie! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Jennie.
Jennie McKinney Caldwell, age 77, of Rising Sun, MD, formerly of Adamsville, AL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Jennie was born in Union Hospital and grew up in North East, MD. She was the daughter of the late Mattie (Bottomley) and George McKinney. She spent weekends and summers on her aunt and uncle's farm in Galen, MD. She loved school and writing which made her an avid reader and a great speller. She worked at Bainbridge and Aberdeen Proving Ground before becoming a homemaker. Jennie enjoyed making arrangements of the beautiful flowers around her home in Chesapeake City, creative sewing and baking birthday cakes for family. Jennie loved all country music and could identify early singers from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Her recent loss of vision slowed up her life but not her spirit. Jennie's family described her as a truly selfless and caring person who was always ready to help anyone in their time of need. Jennie was an adamant animal lover and got joy out of adopting rescue animals. In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her loving husband, Kelley Caldwell; and son, George W. Caldwell.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Kelli (Dan) Eastburn; six grandchildren; T.J. Woods, Shanon Capanna, Marianna Eastburn, Steven Holbrook, Michael Holbrook, and Emily Eastburn: and numerous close family friends whom she all loved.
A memorial service for Jennie will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jennie's name to Faithful Friends Animal Society. Online condolences may be made to mealeyfuneralhomes.com.
