Jennie Ann Lonewski Koza, passed on July 2, 2022, at Littleton Regional Hospital. She was born on February 2, 1930, in Windsor, CT, the daughter of Fred Anthony Lonewski and Anna Huschko. She was 92 and one of 12 children/stepchildren. Both her parents were Polish immigrants who passed through Ellis Island to enter America.
Jennie was the wife of Edward J. Koza, married on June 2, 1951, in Windsor, CT. They met on a blind date that was arranged by her stepsister Stella. She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years and survived by her daughter Alana Lessard and her partner Rob Viola, granddaughter Chelsea Lessard Rowan, her wife Kelly Rowan, and grandson Emile Lessard III. She is also survived by her brother Eugene Lonewski and many nieces and nephews.
Jennie grew up on a shade tobacco farm that also raised various other crops like blueberries and hazelnuts, as well as animals like cows and horses. She planted and harvested the tobacco, and then prepared it for transport. It was during that time on the farm that Ed spotted her, giving Stella the idea to set them up. The rest, as they say, is history.
She graduated from John Fitch High School in Windsor, CT in 1948 and retired from Anderson Laboratories in Bloomfield, CT in 1995.
Jennie loved to travel and enjoyed camping at various New England beaches. She also liked bingo, puzzles, and spending time with her family. In her earlier years, she loved to babysit her nieces and nephews, several of which have kept in touch with her throughout the years. Many of them referred to her as their favorite Aunt.
