Mrs. Jenifer Mary Ellwood
Beloved wife and mother
On Friday, November 1, 2019, Jenifer Mary Ellwood, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away peacefully at age 80 at her residence in Poway, California with her son and daughter at her side. Jenifer was born in Chipping Sodbury, England, to Reginald and Valerie Worlock who both preceded her in death. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Michael Robin Ellwood who preceded her in death in July of this year. Jenifer is also preceded in death by her younger brother George. She is survived by her son Christopher and daughter Holly, her granddaughter Amelia, and her sisters Carol and Miriam.
Jenifer grew up on Brinsham Farm in Yate, England, where she helped on her father’s dairy farm milking cows and was an active member of the Young Farmer’s Club. She was an excellent horsewoman, riding to hounds with the Beaufort hunt on her Arab horse Bambi. When she was 26, she moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to stay with her Uncle Ivan and then later moved to Los Angeles, California. Jenifer lived with her family in Porter Ranch (Northridge), California for 44 years and became a United States Citizen in 1981. Jenifer had many varied interests including taking flight lessons to obtain a private pilot’s license. Jenifer was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire and the Los Angeles Celtic Arts Center where she performed in several Celtic dance groups. She enjoyed going on bicycle rides with her husband and friends, and was an active volunteer and member of the altar guild at her church, St. Martin in-the-fields, in Canoga Park, California. She also frequently volunteered at Chaminade College Preparatory while her children attended.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15th at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal church in Poway, California at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, Jenifer’s family suggests that donations be made in her name to the Dementia Society of America online at www.DementiaSociety.org/donate
