Jeffrey Allen Zemler passed away the morning of February 18, 2022. Jeffrey was born in Salina, Kansas and spent his life in Carrollton, Texas. Jeff had a passion for history and earned his doctorate in American History from the University of North Texas. He taught American History at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch and Tarrant County College in Hurst. He often described his job as standing in front of people and simply telling stories. Teaching was his calling. Jeff put his passion into words and wrote two books: James Madison, the South, and the Trans-Appalachian West, 1783-1803 and A Family for the Time: Robert Carter Nicholas, George Nicholas, and the Critical First Decades of the United States. The only things Jeff loved more than history were music and his family. After Jeff met his wife, Catherine, they continued to lead the church choir where Jeff shared his love of music with God and his church. Jeff loved his family most of all. Even with the hectic schedules of five children, Jeff rarely missed a band concert, kids' game, choir concert, or any graduation. Like any good grandpa, Jeff spoiled the grandkids and often let the grandkids have dessert before dinner and even ice cream for breakfast. Jeff left behind his wife Cathy, five children, five grandchildren, his father Gary, his mother Jan, his step-mother Linda, his two sisters, countless friends, and a multitude of students. He was loved by all and will be missed by all. A viewing will be held on March 11, 2022 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Dallas. A Remembrance of Life Mass will be held on March 12, 2022 at 10:30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Texas with a reception to follow.
