Jeffrey Clark Ertz, age 76, of Pawleys Island, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 3, 2024, in his home. He was born on December 2, 1947, in Aliquippa, PA, to the late James Ertz and Audrey Hatfield Nevelle.
Jeffrey was proud to serve his country in the 18th Airborne of the US Army at Fort Bragg, NC, from 1968. After an honorable discharge in 1974, he became a store manager for Firestone Tires in PA and NY. In the early 1980s, he was transferred to a store in Pittsburgh, PA.
In 1987, he was transferred to Columbia, SC, and managed the Gervais Street Firestone store. On February 2, 1997, he married his partner in life, Judy Hughes. In 2000, they moved to Pawleys Island, SC, where he worked at Myrtle Beach National and Willbrook Golf Courses.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hughes of Pawleys Island; four sons, Tim Hughes (Kimberly), Jason Hughes (Ryoko), Jeff Ertz, and Brent Ertz; Granddaughter, Samantha Young (Travis); four great-grandkids, McKenna, Dawson, Addy Jo, Charlotte; Brother, Ray K. Ertz (Gail); Sisters-in-law, Cookie Keener, Susie Luchini (Lance), Noreen Hughes (Lou) and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Goldfinch Funeral Home - Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet, SC. Visitation with the family is one hour prior to the service.
