Jeff Hartvig Andersen, 76, of Portsmouth, NH and Key West, FL died on April 3, 2021, at home in Portsmouth. Jeff was born on September 25, 1944, in Copenhagen, Denmark to Knud and Bente Hartvig Andersen. He emigrated to the U.S. in his 20s to pursue a career in sail-making. He worked for Ted Hood in Marblehead, MA, where he met his wife, Pamela Craig. They moved to New Hampshire in 1980 where he opened Anson Sailmakers and went on to serve the local sailing community for 40 years. Jeff and Pam worked side-by-side at Anson Sailmakers and High Flying Flag Company in Greenland, NH, always with one of their beloved dogs, Bowline, Zaidee, or Moxie. He was a lover of sailing, flying, horseback riding and travel, all hobbies he pursued with great enthusiasm and passion throughout his life. In addition to his wife, Pam, he is survived by one son, Jens Hartvig Andersen and his wife, Eleanor, of Montreal, Canada. Additionally, his family in Denmark, including his brother Jock and his wife, Ady, and many adoring nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews in both Denmark and the U.S., will miss him dearly. Jeff leaves a legacy of creative genius, focused achievement, and a loving, patient commitment to his work and family.
A service to honor Jeff will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Community Congregational Church of Greenland, 2 Post Road, Greenland, NH.
