It is with great sadness that the children of Mrs. Jeannine E. McCarron, 90, of Pittsfield, announce her passing peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born in Pittsfield, MA, on May 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte Chapman Mitchell. Jeannine spent most of her life in Pittsfield and attended local schools.
Jeannine was primarily a stay at home mother while her children were small, though she volunteered in the Pomeroy Elementary School library for many years. She had previously worked as a waitress and a sales clerk before marriage. After her children were grown, she reentered the work force through Man Power secretarial positions and finished her career at Wahconah Welding.
Jeannine enjoyed cheering her son on at the Boys Club Hockey games and also at Pittsfield Little League games. She was an avid Pittsburg Penguins fan. She also loved the New York Mets games. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy and knew almost all the trivia answers, she also loved a good crossword puzzle. She was an avid reader.
Jeannine was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 57 years, Bernard "Sarge" McCarron, whom she married on May 5, 1961. Bernard passed away on March 18, 2018. She leaves behind her six children, Michael McCarron and his wife Catherine of Dalton, Lauren McCarron Bolio and her husband Craig of Peru, Melissa Mitchell Tomlin and her husband Eugene of Monroe Va, Patricia McCarron and Colleen McCarron Hassan and her husband Roger of Pittsfield. The family is especially proud of Jeannine's courageous decision to love and raise as her own, adopted daughter Ann Margaret Connors and we would like to acknowledge her courage and tireless advocacy to ensure Annie had every opportunity at a full and rewarding life.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Roger and Gregory Hassan, Kylie Ungewitter, William Prout, Jr., Ryder McFadyen, and Mitchell and Robert Hughes, as well as ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeannine was predeceased by her brother, Edward Mitchell and her grandsons, Daniel Prout and Nathan Weiland Bolio.
